Portsmouth FC are a professional football club formed in 1898 and playing their home games at Fratton Park and playing in league 1, the 3rd tier of English football. Portsmouth has enjoyed a lot of success with a lengthy spell in the premier league and FA cup finalists in 2008 and 2010, winning the trophy in 2008 and going onto play European football in 2008-2009.
The Solution
Portsmouth were looking to completely overhaul their surveillance system and accompanying infrastructure. With a recognised requirement to upgrade their system to High definition IP, Portsmouth FC consulted with Qvis and Portsmouth based installer Loguin. Cameras were required to provide coverage for the stadium, communal areas, car parks. A second integrated system was needed for the training ground but with the facility to manage all cameras centrally from the stadium. An 8 core fibre ring was installed at Fratton Park with 16 x, 1080p PTZ cameras and a mix of 84 x 4mp bullets and vandals sitting on 4 x 32channel λ | Cortex NVRs. Cameras were located strategically in providing high definition coverage to preidentified areas. Solutions at the training ground and stadium are managed and controlled centrally via Qvis Viewer in the Stadium control room and security office.
Client Review
“We have over 18,000 supporters coming into the ground for most home games. The CCTV system has proved to be an invaluable tool in managing safety on both match day and non-match day operations. The fibre backbone has provided us with seamless operation of the CCTV system throughout the ground. The Qvis NVR is very easy to use and provides us with crystal clear high definition recording. Due to the modular scalability of the solution it can grow in line with the needs of the football club”
